We endorse Hannah for State Rep

Mary Grant
Former Essex 06 State Rep
At this very serious time in our country, I endorse City Councilor-At-Large, Hannah Bowen to be our next State Representative.
Her understanding of the impact of government creates fairness and prosperity for all. Hannah understands the importance of respect for ourselves, for each other and for our country. She operates with openness and with integrity.
Hannah has shown herself to be very fiscally responsible. She asks tough questions and stands her ground on our behalf. This type of fiscal responsibility is deeply respectful of that which we work hard for.
Her commitment is not to power nor to money, but it is a deep commitment to us. Her intelligence allows her to have vision. Her strength allows her to lead.

Kevin Burke
Former Essex 06 State Rep, former Essex County District Attorney, and former MA Secretary of Public Safety and Security
As a life long Democrat who has been privileged to serve the public I am excited to endorse the candidacy of Hannah Bowen for State Representative for Beverly and Wenham.
Hannah has demonstrated through her hard work as a City Councilor that she cares deeply about Beverly and its people. Her experience working with both State and Federal governments gives her a deep understanding how all three levels of government can work together to help Beverly.
She has the knowledge, talent and energy to be an exceptional State Representative.

Hannah is a bright and thoughtful leader who prioritizes respect, transparency, and accountability.
She worked hard to make sure the City’s budget is accessible and understandable so that people and businesses know where their tax dollars are being spent. And she made certain that the appropriate budgeting checks and balances are in place to protect the public’s interest.
Hannah also has a proven track record of listening to and fighting for her constituents and will work tirelessly to ensure statewide policies and funding opportunities are made in the best interest of us all.
Hannah Bowen is the tireless advocate that Beverly and Wenham P1 need as their state representative.

She will fight for all her constituents, ensuring that everyone—including LGBTQ+ individuals, communities of color, and working families—has a voice in our government.
I strongly believe that Hannah will bring positive results for Beverly and Wenham P1 as state representative.

Dr. Matt Ferreira
Associate Superintendent in New Hampshire and Beverly Resident
I have long admired Hannah’s calm, understated leadership, her ability to foster collaboration across differing viewpoints, and her unwavering commitment to Beverly’s progress.
Hannah’s resolution in support of Beverly’s teachers came at a pivotal moment during the teachers’ strike. While many elected officials remained silent, Hannah changed the conversation and took a stand for the values she believes in.
Her resolution shifted the tone of the discussion, reinforcing the community’s commitment to its schools. It was a turning point that helped influence and accelerate the resolution of the strike.
Her leadership in this moment was not only a catalyst for meaningful change but also a reflection of the thoughtful and proactive leadership our city needs.

We have been involved in Democratic politics for more than 50 years. When we met Hannah Bowen, and as we supported her in her earlier campaigns, we found her to be an intelligent, personable and a tireless worker for the public good. We believe she would be an excellent State Representative, and we enthusiastically endorse her.
We first met Hannah when she contacted us to learn more about the City Charter – a topic in which we had been deeply involved. She sought information and experience before forming her own viewpoint. Her work on the Charter shows her superlative education, her intelligence and her deep understanding of how government works.
Hannah combines all these qualities with a deep empathy for people and understanding of their needs. She has brought all her skills and attributes to service on the Council. Among her efforts have been her work to keep the National Grid project under control and to create more housing in Beverly. All her work has shown her depth of understanding and ability to find common ground for all parties involved.

The Sierra Club
Hannah Bowen’s rich background in community organizing, her time in public service, and her support of environmental issues concerning the expansion of public transportation options and accessibility, waste reduction, elimination of polystyrene and plastic food packaging, and the funding of municipal building decarbonization demonstrates her interest in protecting the planet.
She shows a determination to guard against inequity in the communities she serves. She promises to work with district partners to push for transparency in policy development to ensure input is invited and encouraged.
The Sierra Club is proud to endorse Hannah as a candidate for the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
– Celia Doremus, Political Committee Chair

350 Mass Action
The divide between climate champions and climate delayers in our legislature is stark.
We need representatives who do not simply accept the broken status quo. We need Hannah Bowen in the State House.
At a time when our State Legislature is failing us on climate, transparency, and public accountability, we need transformative leadership to push Massachusetts forward.
We are proud to endorse Hannah and will have her back all the way from Beverly to Beacon Hill.
– Dan Zackin, 350 Mass Action Political Coordinator

Tim Averill
Teacher, debate coach, and longtime Beverly resident
As a resident of Beverly for 55 years and a lifelong Democrat, I am proud to endorse Hannah Bowen for State Representative. Hannah has the skills and perspective to get things done.
I was part of a group of citizens who objected to the (National Grid replacement) project. Hannah was a strong voice in not only hearing our concerns but also in taking leadership in creating standards and conditions that National Grid would have to meet, as well as in establishing the Citizens’ Advisory Council with bi-weekly meetings to address the concerns of all abutters throughout the process.
As I think about what Beverly needs for the future, I feel strongly that we must have a representative who can speak truth to power. Hannah is a voice for the future who will guard our interests in the coming years.
